This image came to me on a summer day, very vivid and clear — two horses, one black and one white, standing side by side and looking at us from the canvas.

I always try to take an idea and start bringing it to life as soon as possible, before it slips away or its time runs out.

The meaning and the title usually appear only in the process of painting, just as suddenly and unexpectedly as the image itself.

For me, this painting represents the duality of existence: black and white as two parts of one whole. It is about the fact that good cannot exist without bad, just as bad cannot exist without good.

If life were always only good, we would not even be able to appreciate it, because we would have nothing to compare it with.

This painting is about the idea that these parts must coexist, and that we should not resist difficulties - because often they are a sign that great success and happiness may be waiting just ahead.

About the Artwork

This artwork captures a moment of contrast and harmony — two horses, one black and one white, standing together and gazing from the canvas as if mirroring the balance within ourselves. Created from a vivid summer vision, it reflects the artist’s belief that inspiration should be brought to life instantly, before it fades. Through this piece, the artist explores the eternal balance of existence: light and darkness, good and bad, joy and struggle — all inseparable parts of one whole. “Duality” reminds us that challenges often precede the most meaningful moments of growth and happiness, and that life’s beauty lies precisely in this coexistence.

Artist

Staz Li

DAILE presents Staz Li, an artist obsessed with turning the unseen into the unmistakably here. Staz Li treats vision like raw material harvested from somewhere just beyond language, then shaped until anyone can meet it face to face. It’s less a choice than a rhythm: every day, another image surfaces; every day, Staz brings it through. The work carries that urgency clean lines, decisive color, and a sense that you’re looking at something rescued from the invisible. We’re drawn to this exact clarity: art as a conduit between worlds.
