Morning Over the Alpine Lake

DAILE STUDIO

MINI300 pieceswithout glue kit

A bedroom above an alpine lake with the windows open. Breakfast sits on the white bedding: a cappuccino in a blue-and-white cup, two croissants, an open guidebook showing a map. A straw hat, an old film camera, sunglasses and a navy passport lie beside them. Past the balcony, a lemon tree, a church tower on the far shore, a sailboat, and snow on the peaks.

About the artwork

Morning Over the Alpine Lake is set in a room whose windows have just been opened onto a lake ringed by mountains. Breakfast is on the bed, not at a table: a cappuccino in a blue-and-white cup, two croissants on a plate, an open guidebook lying flat at a map of the region. A straw boater with a black ribbon, an old film camera in its leather case, tortoiseshell sunglasses and a navy passport are set out beside them.
On the balcony there is a lemon tree, white blossom in pots, one small bistro table. Beyond it the water is clear blue, a sailboat has already left the shore, a church tower stands among pale houses across the lake, and snow still covers the peaks. Nobody is in the room. The day has not been decided yet.
