Street light like champagne. Petals spill over wicker baskets; a woman in a crisp white blouse turns toward a burst of carnations while a little dog keeps watch. Childe Hassam (American, 1859–1935) loved cities when they were still half garden markets, promenades, the improvised theater of sidewalks. His brush is quick and musical: streaks of blue and pearl in the skirt, tips of vermilion on the flowers, a world that trembles slightly because it’s alive.
Flower Girl is not a pose but a glimpse, the kind of beauty you catch between steps. DAILE presents this work for anyone who believes the day can be luminous without trying.
