Kaoutar Boushabi

Morocco

Kaoutar Boushabi is a Moroccan painter whose work explores the dualities that live inside the human soul: the hidden and the revealed, the mask and the truth. She often returns to the motif of hands as a visual language of identity and emotion – gestures that speak when words fall silent.

“Hands are the language of identity – they reveal what the face is still trying to hide.”

— Kaoutar Boushabi

Two faces, one hidden truth

“The Glory” places two versions of a self side by side – the one we proudly show to the world and the one that stays silent beneath the surface. In the soft gaze, the closed eyes and the quiet hand, Kaoutar captures the moment when those two selves finally meet. It is unsettling, tender and strangely comforting all at once, like recognising your reflection in an unexpected place.

For those who feel that true glory is not loud and shining, but quietly honest.

The Glory

The Glory

“The Glory” is a meditation on what we show and what we shelter inside ourselves. A living face and a ghostlike one lie side by side, as if two selves are resting in the same body – one looking outward with clear, luminous eyes, the other turned inward, quiet and almost weightless.
The hand, painted with a balance of warm pinks at the fingertips and cooler tones along the veins, becomes the key to the work. It is poised between abstraction and realism, carrying both tenderness and strength. Colour blocks slice through the composition, framing the figures like fragments of memory or pieces of a broken mirror.
This painting is not just an image but a moment of revelation: a confrontation with the parts of us that seek glory and the parts that stay in the shadows. Owning it means holding a fragment of that journey – a one of a kind work that will continue to shift and deepen over time.

• Original painting by Kaoutar Boushabi
• Poetic fusion of figurative portraiture and geometric abstraction
• Central focus on hands as symbols of identity and unspoken emotion
• Rich, layered colours: warm flesh tones, cool blues, bright reds and golds
• Powerful statement piece for interiors that value psychological, thought-provoking art
