Latvian summer III
by Amalija Andersone
“Latvian Summer III” is inspired by warm Latvian summer evenings when the sun sets late and rises early. Moonlit meadows, soft skies and fields in full bloom create a scene that feels both calm and alive – like walking through June grass at night when the air is sweet and cool.
About the work
This artwork captures the essence of Latvian June – the heart of the summer, when fields are blooming and nights are more blue than black. It is about the kind of evening when you can wander through meadows by moonlight, not hurrying anywhere, simply letting time stretch.
“Latvian Summer III” doesn’t show crowds or fireworks. Instead, it focuses on space and air: open fields, long horizons, and the quiet glow that stays on the land long after sunset. It is that moment when you realise you don’t need anything extra – just the sound of grass, distant birds and your own footsteps.
As a DAILE puzzle, the artwork invites you to rebuild this evening slowly, piece by piece, until the whole landscape appears on your table and becomes a memory you can keep.

The artist
Amalija Andersone
Amalija Andersone is a Latvian visual artist, photographer and set designer whose work is filled with colour, light and story. From Nubian villages and Silk Road cities to Greek islands and Latvian gardens, she paints places that feel both real and a little bit like fairy tales. Latvian summers, in particular, inspire her to create scenes of warm evenings, flowers in bloom and long tables outdoors.
Amalija loves to capture the kind of days and nights that feel ordinary while they are happening – and unforgettable later. Her paintings are built from soft light, lush colour and small details of daily rituals: a table, a path through a field, a corner of a garden. “Latvian Summer III” continues her series of love letters to the Latvian summer, focusing on its quiet evenings and moonlit meadows.
A June night that never really ends
“Latvian Summer III” feels like standing in a meadow when the day has technically ended, but the light refuses to leave. Fields are in bloom, the sky is washed with late colour, and the air is so gentle you want to stay outside forever. It is a painting about the quiet joy of simply being there – no rush, no agenda, just you and the summer.
