Artist

Leonardo da Vinci

Leonardo da Vinci (1452–1519) was an Italian polymath painter, sculptor, architect, engineer, anatomist whose curiosity shaped both art and science. Trained in Florence and active in Milan and beyond, he fused meticulous observation with invention: dissecting bodies to understand light and form, designing machines, and writing mirror-notes on everything from water flow to flight. His paintings are rare and rigorously crafted, using layered glazes and subtle tonal transitions to give figures the sensation of breath.
