Founder’s Letter: Crafting gifts that become rituals

Why I started DAILE

I’ve always loved objects that ask you to slow down a book with beautiful paper, a cup that warms your hands. DAILE grew from that feeling. We don’t sell distractions; we design a small ceremony around art so the moment you open the box, the day changes pace.

What “art ritual” means in practice

An art ritual is a simple sequence that makes space for attention:

  1. Clear a table.

  2. Light a candle.

  3. Read a short note about the artwork.

  4. Build at your pace, often with someone you love.

  5. Keep or display what you’ve made.

Everything in our set the finish of the pieces, their fit, the story card, the bamboo capsule is there to support that sequence.

How we choose the art

We collaborate with artists whose work carries emotion at a glance. We license each artwork transparently and pay royalties for every set sold. The artwork comes first composition, color range, and texture must translate beautifully to a puzzle you’ll want to keep.

Our principles:

  • Respect the original work and credit the artist clearly.

  • Pay fairly (royalties per unit sold).

  • Print with color integrity; no shortcuts.

Materials and build: a quick tour of the process

We prototype every edition in our Riga studio. A typical path looks like this:

  • Color proofing: We profile each artwork to protect subtle transitions and skin tones. We choose a satin, low‑glare finish so the image reads in both daylight and evening light.

  • Core & cut: We use dense, durable board engineered for a satisfying “click.” Edge tolerances are tight, because a millimeter matters to your flow.

  • Tactility: Pieces are deburred and tested by hand; your fingers should feel smooth edges and a gentle texture, not snagging.

  • Longevity: We design the set to be kept and reused glue to seal, a microfiber cloth to care for it, and a capsule to store it.

Why the bamboo capsule?

A puzzle this considered deserves a home. Bamboo is light, warm, and renewable. The capsule protects the set between sessions and looks good on a shelf no need to hide it. It’s our way of saying the ritual is part of your life, not an afterthought.

Personalisation that actually looks like art

Turning your memory into an artwork is powerful. To help your Personalised Puzzle look its best:

  • Choose images with natural light and clear subjects.

  • Avoid heavy filters and extreme crops.

  • Higher resolution is better; if in doubt, upload we’ll check and advise.

  • We’ll gently adjust composition so the finished piece feels balanced on the wall.

Fairness to artists (and to you)

We pay royalties on every sale, keep contracts clear, and share credits generously on packaging, story cards, and product pages. When you buy a DAILE set, you support the person who made the artwork you enjoy.

Our promise

If something isn’t right color, fit, or finish we’ll make it right. The standard is simple: would I be proud to gift this to someone I love? If not, it doesn’t ship.

What’s next

We’ll keep expanding artist collaborations and refining materials. Personalisation will grow with new formats and framing options. And we’re building guides, playlists, and small tools that make your art‑ritual even easier to begin.

Thank you for letting DAILE into your home.
