Kristīne Priedīte is a Latvian painter with a background in restoration at the Art Academy of Latvia and ongoing Master’s studies. She works mainly in oil, combining precise, realist technique with luminous colour and finely built detail. Her practice is thoughtful and iterative: observing, studying and slowly refining each canvas until form, light and memory feel in balance.

Kristīne’s paintings often feel like worlds caught mid-transformation. She layers organic forms, quiet architectural hints and subtle symbols so that every surface holds more than one time at once: traces of the past, the tension of the present, and a question about the future. Her restoration training gives her a deep sensitivity to materials and ageing, while her contemporary vision keeps the work crisp, clear and emotionally immediate.

Kristīne doesn’t insist on an answer; she simply offers a place where you can stand and feel how close our past and future really are.

“Past in the Future”

In “Past in the Future,” nature and technology do not stand on opposite sides they grow through each other. Vines and roots recall memory, ancestry and the body’s instinct to heal, while circuits and grids echo the systems we build for speed, safety and control. Hybrid plants, part-organic and part-invented, feel like evolution captured in real time.

Soft glows appear in shadowed areas, suggesting that light and hope now travel through unfamiliar channels: not as a single sun, but as small, intelligent lanterns scattered across the scene. Layered textures hint at a surface that has been written on many times history not erased, but continuously overwritten. The title points to cycles: what once was can return in new, altered forms, carrying both promise and warning.

The painting doesn’t tell you which side is “winning.” Instead, it invites a slow look and an honest question: in our own future, will we merge gently with the wild, or try to replace it?
